Pokémon Platinum, to be released in Japan as Pocket Monsters Platinum (ポケットモンスタープラチナ Poketto Monsutā Purachina?), is an announced title in the Pokémon series of video games. It will be an enhanced remake of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl[2][3][4][5][6] in the same vein as Pokémon Yellow, Crystal, and Emerald.[7] In May 2008, it was announced on the official Pokémon website to be slated for an Autumn 2008 release in Japan,[2][3] although release dates for other regions are currently unknown. In the August 2008 edition of CoroCoro Comic, the release of Platinum was announced to be September 13, 2008.[1]

The game will feature Giratina as its mascot and introduce its Origin Forme (オリジンフォルム Orijin Forumu?), as seen in Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Sheimi. Its initial forme is referred to as its Another Forme (アナザーフォルム Anazā Forumu?).[2][8] The new storyline will involve a disturbance atop Mt. Coronet, as a portal to the "Ruined World" (やぶれたせかい Yabureta Sekai?) is opened and Sinnoh's climate becomes colder. The trainers have been given new outfits to suit the colder climate.
The legendary Pokémon Shaymin, which will be distributed as part of admitance to the film Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Sheimi, will also have an alternate forme in Platinum, known as its "Sky Forme" (スカイフォルム Sukai Forumu?), a dual Grass and Flying-type Pokémon. When traded from Diamond or Pearl to Platinum, Shaymin will transform from its regular Land Forme (ランドフォルム Rando Forumu?) into its Sky Forme[9] with the use of a new item in Platinum.[1] It is yet unknown what role Shaymin plays in the story of Platinum. When the special Regigigas that is given out with a pre-order ticket for Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Sheimi is traded from Diamond or Pearl to Platinum, it activates an event that makes Regice, Regirock, and Registeel available in Platinum.[10][11] "

The GTS has new features, including the “Global Terminal!”
The Global Terminal enables one to exchange Pokemon with one’s friends in addition to the GTS [which involves trading with complete strangers]. Wi-Fi communications can be used to send data, and enter yourself into a ranking.
A new item called the Battle Recorder can be used to record and send “Battle Videos.” These videos can be exchanged with Pokemon fans around the world.
In the basement of each Pokémon Center, players who have Wi-Fi communications enabled can gather to play in wifi square. Players exchange Friend Codes to engage in Wi-Fi Battles and trades, make Poffins together, and play other games. The games that are playable in “Wi-Fi Square” are home to the Wi-Fi Club.
“Wi-Fi Square” enables a maximum of 20 players at the same time !
From the lobby, you can arrange to battle at the Battle Frontier!
